Parc de Caramar – Train Ride

All aboard for a miniature train ride that charms kids and grown-ups alike

Tucked into a quiet corner of El Masnou, just 20 km north of Barcelona along the Maresme coast, the miniature railway at Parc de Caramar is a sweet, low-cost way to spark kids’ curiosity (and yours!) about the world of trains.

Every second Sunday of the month, from 11:00 to 13:00, the little locomotives puff into action, ready to take you on a short but joyful ride through the park.

Visiting with kids

The 5-inch gauge circuit winds through a tiny botanical garden and under the shade of tall trees, making it a pleasant stop even on warmer days. No need to book—just turn up! You might have to queue for a bit, but for €1 per person, the wait is worth it.

There’s also an indoor space for model railway enthusiasts, featuring detailed layouts in multiple scales (1/0, H0, N). The indoor displays are a treat for hobbyists, while the outdoor ride offers hands-on fun for all ages.

Since the ride is short, you can easily combine it with a stop at nearby Parc de Vallmora or the Museu Municipal de Nàutica.

Practical tips

  • Every second Sunday of the month, from 11:00 to 13:00

  • The €1 fare is cash only.

  • No refreshments on site, so pack water and snacks if you’re making a morning of it.

  • Stroller-friendly and perfect for toddlers or little dreamers who love trains.

  • Paid parking is close by; from El Masnou train station it’s about a 15-minute uphill walk.

Best time to go

The Associació d’Amics del Ferrocarril del Masnou runs the trains only on the second Sunday of the month, from 11:00 to 13:00. Check their info channels before heading out in case of last-minute changes.

Then all that’s left is to hop on, wave to the trees, and enjoy this delightful family-friendly train ride. Especially if you’ve got a little train enthusiast in tow.
