El Masnou’s Maritime Museum
Discover the Maritime History of El Masnou at the Museu Municipal de Nàutica
The Museu Municipal de Nàutica del Masnou offers a captivating journey through El Masnou's rich maritime history and tradition. Established in 1962, it showcases a diverse collection, from archaeological finds to modern navigation tools, all free of charge.
What's more, the museum's prime location offers added convenience. Housed in the same building as the city library, it's also just a stone's throw from Parc Vallmora, the bustling commercial hub of Plaça Nova de les Dones del Tèxtil, and also Parc de Caramar. This means you can easily combine your visit with other activities, whether it's running errands or enjoying a full morning or afternoon out with your family.
Visiting with Kids
The museum is family-friendly, with interactive exhibits, including the Navegàrium, a space designed specifically for children to explore maritime themes. The museum is also wheelchair and pushchair accessible.
For an extended family outing, combine your visit with a trip to the nearby library, located in the same building. It has a spacious children's room with a great selection of books, plus regular storytimes and activities (check their schedule for details).
While not specifically for kids, the Espai d’Art Cinètic Jordi Pericot, with its unique collection of kinetic art in Catalunya, is also located in the same building and might be of interest.
If the kids still have energy to burn, Parc Vallmora, one of the most exciting parks in Maresme, is just a 10-minute walk away. And for the train lovers, Parc de Caramar has a special surprise in store every second Sunday of the month.
Best time to go
The museum is open year-round, and never particularly crowded, making it a great spot for a peaceful visit any time of year.
It’s especially ideal for a trip on hot or rainy days, as the indoor exhibits provide a comfortable escape.
Don’t forget to bring your Maresme museums passport to get it stamped.
