Museum of Badalona
La llum tènue, els recorreguts entre més de 3.000 m² de ruïnes antigues i tots els detalls per descobrir fan que la visita tingui un punt de màgia i captivi la imaginació
The Badalona Museum offers a fantastic opportunity to travel back in time and discover the Roman city of Baetulo, founded in the 1st century BC.
During the visit, you can walk over more than 3,000 m² of Roman ruins: streets, houses, shops, water channels, sewers, and even the ancient public baths.
The museum tour through the ruins includes reconstructions of Roman spaces (such as shops, workshops, and the interiors of houses) as well as artifacts
The museum also houses a highly interesting collection of Roman objects — from everyday utensils, jewelry, and bronze hinges from the city wall gate to the famous Venus of Badalona, a small sculpture that has become one of the city's symbols.
The visit includes access to the Casa dels Dofins and the Casa de l’Heura, two ancient Roman villas located just a 3-minute walk from the museum. These are special spaces that allow you to imagine how affluent families of the time lived, featuring spectacular mosaics, gardens, and ancient wine cellars.
🕒 Note: These are only open on the second Sunday of each month.
The archaeological complex of Baetulo is one of the largest covered Roman sites in Catalonia and has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest by the Government of Catalonia.
⚠️ The Garden of Quint Licinius is also part of the museum, but as of 2025, it is not open to visitors.

Visiting With Kids
If you're looking for activities to do with kids near Barcelona, the Badalona Museum can be a pleasant surprise.
Although there aren't specific children's activities, the Roman ruins and ancient objects can spark their curiosity and imagination.

The exhibition texts are available in Catalan, Spanish, and English, and there are also audioguides (it's worth asking at the entrance about the available languages).
⏱️ Plan for about an hour to see the main exhibition and an additional 30 minutes to visit the two Roman houses.
If your children are a bit older and can walk and pay attention for a while, they will likely have a great time. But even the youngest can enjoy the museum: the dim lighting, ancient structures, and details to discover make it a visit with a touch of magic.
The route is linear, so there's no need to worry too much if the kids move ahead on their own. The entire tour is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers.
Best Time To Go
If you want to see the entire complex in a single visit, we recommend going on the second Sunday of the month, which is when the Casa dels Dofins and the Casa de l’Heura are open.

However, keep in mind that the general admission is valid for one year, so you can also visit the main exhibition first and return later to see the Roman houses.
For an even more special family outing, you can attend the Magna Celebratio, the Roman festival that the museum organizes every spring.
You'll find workshops and activities for children that help them better understand what life was like in ancient Rome... and have fun!
